Unfortunately due to various personal issues in the team work on v2 has been progressing much slower than we would like.

But! That is all about to change! We are very happy to announce that the first alpha version of FuelPHP v2 (v2.a.1) will be released on the 1st of January 2015! No more “just around the corner” and “when it comes”.

The version that we will release will be far from a finished version but will allow the community to play with the new framework and allow us to gather feedback early on in the new version’s life cycle to make sure we grow the framework in the right direction.

FuelPHP releases v1.7.2 http://fuelphp.org/blog/2014/07/fuelphp-releases-v1-7-2 It has been quite a busy 7 months since the last release. Unfortunately not all spend on FuelPHP, due to personal circumstances. But there is good news too!

Steve West has been added to the core development team. Steve was already active working on improving the functionality of the ORM, but will focus mainly on rewriting the ORM for version 2, on Fieldsets and Validation, and on unit testing. And off course we have released a new maintenance release, version 1.7.2.

This release fixes a long list of bugs and ommissions, and added a lot of improvements to existing classes. Version 1.7.2. also introduces Composer as the primary means of installing packages. No more submodules, all the core packages are no longer included but installed by Composer.

As always, don't forget to read on, and check the changelog before you upgrade an existing application. Be sure to checkout the v1.7.2 Changelog.

FuelPHP releases v1.7 http://fuelphp.org/blog/2013/10/fuelphp-releases-v1-7 It's been busy times lately. We've been trying to get 1.7 out of the door for quite some time, but every time new issues were reported that needed attention. Plus side of this is that all these issues have been addressed, which should make the 1.7 release the most stable yet! In this release, existing functionality has been improved or optimized, and new functionality has been added. This release also addresses two reported security issues, so we urge you to upgrade as soon as possible.

As always, don't forget to read on, and check the changelog before you upgrade an existing application.

2.0 - An update http://fuelphp.org/blog/2013/08/2-0-an-update A new version of the FuelPHP framework is in the process of being born!

Over the last month, we finally found the time to work on what will become FuelPHP v2.0, and we're moving fast. There's still a lot to do (see the todo list for 2.0-alpha), but in general the new version is taking shape, with more features completed every day.

Time then to highlight some of the changes, and explain what the impact of these changes will be.

Hotfix release v1.5.3 http://fuelphp.org/blog/2013/03/hotfix-release-v1-5-3 For 1.5, all default configuration values went into the FuelPHP core. This has caused an issue with the security settings, leaving fresh 1.5 installations without security enabled by default.

This hotfix sets the default security settings back to the way they were in 1.4, with both the URI filter and output filter enabled.

Hotfix release v1.5.2 http://fuelphp.org/blog/2013/02/hotfix-release-v1-5-2 With the introduction of the Monolog composer package to replace the Log class, a bug in the autoloader was discovered that caused the autoloader to skip class initialisations after an exception.

This hotfix will fix the autoloader, and will cause the correct exception message to be displayed, instead of the dreaded "Fatal error: Exception thrown without a stack frame in line 0".

In some cases, this may cause errors in processing the users session.

This hotfix will fix these errors. If you have 1.5 installed in an existing application, it is strongly suggested you upgrade to 1.5.1. For new applications, you can use 1.5 without problems.

FuelPHP and Composer - Revisited http://fuelphp.org/blog/2013/01/fuelphp-and-composer-revisited Not too long ago I wrote a short article about FuelPHP and Composer.

Today I can announce that we have decided to use the current 1.6/develop branch as a composer test-bed, and will gradually replace existing core functionality by composer packages.

In the 10 months that has followed, a lot has changed. Two members have left the core development team, one of them being the projects founder, and the project has found new leadership. New leadership usually brings change, and for us, there is no exception.

First FuelPHP 2.0 alpha/beta releases http://fuelphp.org/blog/2012/07/first-fuelphp-2-0-alphabeta-releases Today we've tagged the first releases for FuelPHP 2.0. As of this version we'll release the core-of-the-core framework as the Kernel package and the other libraries that make up the 1.x Core will be in the new Core packages or their own package. The Kernel has now reached a level that is pretty close to a Release Candidate and could be called production ready, but as we've raised the bar for unit testing the current 60% coverage is too little for a RC release.

Context matters http://fuelphp.org/blog/2012/06/context-matters Context is what gives meaning to otherwise meaningless or ambiguous statements. This holds true not only in language but in programming as well, or at least it should.
